I have arrange another ride up the Waihou river from matamata to the Okoroire pub.
This ride is NOT a plan river ride!!!...
Its a fun twisting narrow river that has the odd fallen tree so...
You will need a ski that can do two tanks of gas without breaking down
You will need a tool kit and tow rope
You will need a ski that can ride over logs, rocks and anything else nature has chucked in our path.
You will need money for the pub lunch and a few beers/drinks for the way up and back.
Last year 9 of us did it on sitdowns and made with with only two sinkings and a few holes[nothing to big]
Pole skis will make it there and back on a tank and a bit so sitdowns can carry spare fuel if needed.
If anyone is keen post on here or PM me and i will keep you posted.

The saying goes..."These rides will cost you money!...On a good day its only fuel, food and booze"

I not trying to put anyone off...Its just that it maybe easy to get up this time or it could be like the last two times where we have had to ride over fallen logs and pull skis out from under logs[even had to sink one just to get it out]...Also it will be cold and in places you dont get much sun so breaking down will not be fun.
So im just putting out that we are not really catering for guys showing up that will break down or have a cry at the end of the day because there ski has a hole in it.

The rapids at the top of the kituna are shit for standups...unless its been pissing down for a day or so and there are dumping the lake....the river is long and wide...only good for flatout on a shitdown...

i did this run easily on a WB II last time... but with no holes or sinking.
As it's a river it may look different this time - tho did land in the trees at one time...too much air jumping a large log.
It's a great ride and one that you'll remenber.
coming back down steam is even faster.
last time we had a newbie with us... made it and was so excited the whole ride
The pub is a nice country pub , many motorcylists pleasure ride to it,
hard case everyone sitting round in leather and rubber!!
    !
It would be an easy and exciting run on a pole ski

    FYI :
on these river runs I change out my intake grate back to the standard one ...
just so the big scoop grate isn't picking up stones/twigs/debri etc ...
in any shallow bits or bourbon beach stops.

hope others are planning to come. hers a couple of pics from last run
