Me and some mates are heading to the Mount next weekend, just wondering where the best place to launch would be. I would like to ride on the main beach somewhere, away from all the surfers, swimmers etc cheers
launch sulphur pt boat ramp (it's the main tauranga ramp) or pilot bay at the mount (parking can be tight tho) we don't ski main beach as there are no waves 200mtrs off shore and not allowed over 5knots (surfclub is right there.) - you cannot ski at any of the mount beaches in the waves - the only jetski lane is at papamoa - 15 mins further down the beach. **** We are very lucky to have matakana island which is about 20kms long and has waves all along it. you just head straight across the harbour (6mins) out the entrance turn left and you're there... sweeeet. let us know when your'e planning to ride, usually a few of us keen here.
to back that up, i went and rode at matakana island with redtro, tim and another few guys,. - it was awesome! though parking was nearly a drama at the ramp he mentioned, but we found spaces
