I bought this Ginga Squarenose about a year ago, and now that I am doing a bit of surf riding I am going to do a freestyle build with it.

It always felt a bit heavy and sluggish compared to my other ski, so first job is to de-foam. After cutting the tray out and finding this underneath I can see why.

I used a combination of a large screwdriver to lever out chunks and long spade bit in the drill is OK too. After a while I got bored of that and borrowed an industrial water blaster and that made fairly short work of the rest of it.

Nice and clean and no more foam.

I bought some Rickters from AJSP and have also cut the holes for them.

White Sox and Knoxie had a look at it a few weeks ago and reckon seeing as its all exposed I should be reinforcing the bond line, so here is last night's effort of filling it with resin and microspheres ready for some biax to go over the top.

looks good man. You need to leave a decent flange around the footholds so they dont crack (they look flush cut in the photo) If its too late make sure you overlap a nice thick layer of glass into them all the way around.

I need to reinforce mine under the tray at some stage too!

    Nice job!

Dude its really important to check the stainless tubes going under the floor as blitza and I have come across at least 3 maybe 4 skis where they are leaking into the floor thats most likely why it was all mush in there. Block one end and pressurize it with an air compressor and it will be obvious if they are leaking. A pressure gauge is best. My 97 rn had leaks.

Finally got some more work done - put two layers of biax down and overlapped them in the area that the bond line is filled. So there is a double layer about 50mm wide over the bond line.

Checked the overlap in the footholds as suggested by Capt. and there is about 25mm in most places except where I have had to adjust the hole to bring one of the holds further forward so they are aligned properly. Will this be enough or do I need to do extra reinforcement of them?

Also checked the water lines going through the tray and they both hold pressure so should be fine - thanks for the tip ROD.
