Here is the build thread for my Blaster refresh. The old girl is starting to show some signs of abuse so its time to add a bit of reinforcement. That and I promised a few of the Aussies they could ride it if they come over for our FOF, and if they're anything like that mad bastard Dan its gonna need to be tough! I thought I had plenty of time to finish this job - and the other builds I am doing, but it looks like I just lost 2 months so I better get my A into G. Hopefully starting this thread will keep me focused and get it done. First job is to strip out all the hardware and give the inside of the hull a clean - done. Then I have trimmed all the excess glue from around the bed-plates so I can lay some glass over the seams.
Now that the excess glue has been trimmed off I have filled all the gaps with Microspheres so the glass will lay down nice and smooth.

Ha Dazza, Blaster Jay is coming so if you want to see your ski going fully invert, I would keep going with the reinforcement job. lol
Ha ha... sorry dude. For the moment its going to stay stock with some of the 701 bolt-on upgrades. I hear someone else is looking at doing a rockered ski, so I might be tempted after test riding the Pepe express!
Well I'm officially over doing fiberglass work... this shit sucks arse. On the plus side the reinforcement is pretty much done, just a few patches to go over the cracks under the fuel tank and some sanding to tidy up any sharp edges and I can go back to hating glass work from afar.
I did a final sand down and painted a coat of resin over the top to smooth out all the bumps from the bias stitching and also those nasty fiberglass edges so I don't get stabbed when working on it. It's a much nicer finish after doing this - thanks for the advice Sox! Also put a few layers of glass over the cracked bed plates on the rear tank mounts which seem to have taken a fair amount of punishment. I'm just waiting on some 701 goodies and it can be put back together.
The engine is back in and aligned, and with the help of 701 engine mates and KP keepers it should stay there.
I got a whole load of 701 goodies just before Christmas, and now that the festive season has wound down a bit its time to start working on the ski again. How many weeks is there to the FOF again?
