Hey all. Is there anywhere in the Auckland area that is good for surf? Orewa is so hit and miss and I’m trying to find somewhere that is local-ish with constant good surf for a mildly modded superjet. Any suggestions would be appreciated Plus if anyone else is keen to jump surf with me on a amateur level let know as my other JetSki mates are useless. Cheers
Hey Chris, A few of us ride often down at Karioitahi Beach out near Waiuku. Might be a bit of a trek but a few do come down from the shore etc to ride often. Can’t beat being able to drive onto the beach and launch etc. Like anywhere it depends on the winds/swell for good conditions but 9 times out of 10 there is always swell on the west coast. Often too much. So just depends on the wind but it’s certainly not the once a month of more you have to wait like the east coast. Plenty of room and you don’t “have to” venture out into the bigger stuff - always smaller sets in closer to play in. If you’re keen to meet some new people and get out and ride then by all means come down. Be great to have some new local faces. I’ll chuck up a post when we’re riding next - probably actually be this weekend on Sunday morning all going well.
