Hi im new to this forum and sport but keen to get my hands on a ski and learn from there. And any help with what to buy would be brilliant. After a reliable ski, that will be fun in the surf or just cruising round,
It looks like it from a shop so you maybe able to find out history of it. Worth checking out for sure. If both compressions are within a few psi of each other and over 150 it should be ok
Yea its from farnleys the kawasaki jetski shop in chch, was one of the mecahnics ski Crankshaft 5hrs since new New rings New crank seals new gaskets. And the compressions 180psi on both. So a good ski for 5g then?
Check the compression yourself and ask why the pistons werent changed when crank was done. Other than that it looks in alright condition in the pics and has everything you need to just jump on and ride. Maybe ask if you can test it???
yeah it was a good ski when Kim owned it, its pretty much got everything you want on it, footholds, B-Pipe, etc, it had a few scratches etc on it (for its age)...and looks a bit worse now......and engine bay looks a bit grimy. I would query about the engine rebuild....that ski didn't really have enough hours on it to warrant a rebuild..... but yeah thats a dam good price for a SJ that new with all the bits
Thanks for all the help. Im goin in next week to check out the ski and take it for a ride, anything i should listen out for or take a look at? When buying a ski is there anything in particular to look for and check? like a checklist?
Yea I would be the same and check the compression myself or get them to check it infront of you, Check engine mounts, any obvious cracks/fractures in the hull, like a few others said ask them about the rebuild, shine a light up the pump and check the impeller and clearence between impeller and housing, and If ya can take it for a test ride that would be good, Thats my thoughts Im sure someone else will come up with some more things to check.
The ski was sold this morning so missed out. But thanks alot for the help and if anyone has skis coming up for sale let me kno as really keen to get involved in the sport!!
I would personally say superjet but theres that sxr on here, and my old superjet was up for sale and I dont think it sold, It was in good condition when I sold it and would be a good start
Hey timmy if you are after some people to ride in chch with give me a yell, havent been out over the winter for various reasons but should have ski ready before summer so will be back out with the lads
