Its Auckland anniversary weekend. Not sure who else that extends to (maybe up North??), but Monday is holiday. Whats more important is that the forecast is for 9/10 – 10/10 surf on the West Coast. The port has to be on for one, if not both, days. Not too massive either – nice 4ft-6ft and clean by the looks of things. Plus the weather forecast is for nothing but sunshine. Be great to see as many people out as possible. Let me know if you are keen and what day(s) you can make it?

Tempted but don’t know if I’m ready for this. Still learning and falling off a lot.

Report has dropped off a bit now. Swell picks up on Sat and holds through Sun, just, and then begins to drop on Monday. So Sunday sounds like a better day than Monday.

EDIT: Its dropped off even more. Looking like 2ft or so with the possibility of slightly larger sets coming in. Be great for those that aren't super confident in the surf.

Be a good day to try. Surf will be smallish - 2ft or so and shouldn't be too challenging.

Would the SJ be ok with out hood straps and limiting rope? I wont be doing any thing crazy just putting around.

The other problem I have is getting the wife out to the ocean side she is also keen for a ride. Cant fit two on a JS.

It'll be fine without those. You can slash away to your hearts content. Just don't take on anything that you don't feel confident with.

Re the life partner. You can drive onto the beach at the surf club and head north up to the river mouth which is where we come through. But there ain't much beach at the surf club over high tide (not sure when that is on sun). Otherwise I'm sure someone, maybe the General, will double your wife out.

Yeah no problem if someone needs a ride out to the beach, just let me know if I need to bring a spare vest.

Nice day. Surf not to flash but it was good to get out. Good to meet some new people as well.
