  1. Hey iv got the unit out of my ski geting the prop done and new bearings.

Is there meant to be a nut on the back end under the cone thing where the bearings are on the end of the shaft? theres thread there but nothing on it? im new to the yamaha pumps used to the good old sxi ones.

  4. cheers for that. do you guys use special tool or do you just use a good old pipe wrench and nut fu*ker to get the prop of?

Special tool can be a good option if you want to use the prop again. I use a shaft holder when I do mine cos its not a good idea to damage the shaft if you can help it.
Definatly dont want to get too rough with it and bend the shaft! I had to use heat to get the impellor off my old SJ
  6. its been lock tight on there is that normal? my mate is an engineer iv left it in his hands so should be all good.

Yea some people put loctite on them but its not really necessary. They are tightening all the time by their direction of rotation so they arent going to go anywhere.
Just makes them harder to get off again! haha

Im sure your mate will be fine, just make sure he doesnt damage that spline at all!

Are you trying to get the standard ali one off to put a chear chear shinny one on ? If so after trying every trick in the book i had one that i had to hack and grind into 1007 bits without damaging the shaft more of a pain in the freckle than anything . If not i think the tools you shove up the front of the prop ain't that dear if you can find someone local with one in stock?

you need heat to get the shitty ali one off. I had someone put major pressure on the prop via a long pipe on a spanner, then i shocked the crap out of the prop by hitting the leading edge with a big hammer! you wont be able to use the prop again. And you need a spline tool!
When the new prop goes on be sure to use heaps of anti seize on the threads. dont use loktite you dont need it.
