Im tossing up between the two, any input would be great, xfs seems to be flip-able with a 701 in it so could have the reliabilty of the yamaha, also If anyone knows of one for sale, let me know, complete would be prefered but not sure how many would be floating around as craig from ajsp said stocking date is january roughly

there is also a vid of malone doing similar thing on a Q8 (flatwater flip with a stock kawi motor)

A seriously doubt there are any rickters or Q8 hulls in NZ .......your best bet would be AJSP for a rickter .....i think those XFS have only just hit the market..so probably is a bit of a wait for one...

There is a guy on ozfreeride that deals the Q8 in aussie:

You will need a Kawi pump though which is only 140mm, i dont like them personally, i would get a Krash hull or a rickter.

yea have put a few posts on the oz site and talked to a few people, such a hard decision without being able to test ride anything, I came across a q8 with a kawi 800 in it for 12us but not sure if I want a kawaski, can the be bored out to a bigger displacement? was thinking of going dasa or xscream engine but then its just more money and more gas etc and completes seem to be a tad cheaper not to mention ready to ride

Check out that mint 96 superjet on trademe its ready to ride for summer and probably cheaper then the shipping on your rickter lol

You need to try these shortened hulls before opening up your pocket book, as they ride like nothing else!

I would seriously recommend that you hit the Daytona freeride up (www.daytonafreeride.com) in January and ride them all before pulling the trigger and opening up your wallet....

AFAIK, Taylor Curtis is the only pro surf rider that is riding one of these new generation skis, so that has got to say something about how they handle the surf.

Be careful and try them out...
