had a mean day wavejumping on the westcoast today, not at port waikato but at the Manakau heads and whatipu. launched at huia and rode out to the heads for big waves on the bar.

great day with the sun was out too :D . alot easier than driving all the way to port or pauanui for some of the aucklanders and also a change of scenery. (speaking of scenery the cliffs are awesome)
should organise a ride out that way sometime...

unfortunately there is no surf cam or forecast out there, it depends on swell, wind and tide direction, usually big. was nice on sunday but can get vpretty wild out there sometimes :? (think orpheus disaster). best to hit it an hour or so before high tide so u get a decent ride in before the tide changes.
this is a swell map of the heads: http://www.swellmap.com/charts.php?l=ackw this weekends lookin a bit large...
