msd enhancer are they worth it

are there any gains with an msd enhancer. Also if I put one in a 650 electrics box do I have to do any other mods to run the electrics on a 701. Your input might just make my mind up.

With an msd you will have a stronger spark with better down low responce and a adjustable rev limit. With the same unit doing both 650 and 701 it will plug straight in. Ring roger from jetwerks for a price.

MSD Enhancer is a great Mod to do as Tof says much stronger spark. It also increases spark duration to make sure there is total ignition of the fuel and you are not wasting precious power!

It advances the spark down low to give extra throttle response and then retards the timing up top to stop detonation.
If you are going to, or have already done mods then having an adjustable rev limiter is good cos with extra power you could hit the factory limiter and lose power.

Its is an overall good mod to do and at just under $400 its not too badly priced!

Does the MSD limiter come pre set to a safe limit? Or does it need to be adjusted to your engine?

just wind the limiter to the max i think its 8000rpm on the msd its sweet and run br8hs plugs cause 7s will melt your pistons. i wouldn't waste my time riding without a msd.

You wont hit the limiter in the water anyway its only when you jump or are on the trailer you will ever reach 8000RPM so you'll never do any damage.

Hey capt what way do you screw the rpm limiter as i am about to install mine and i don't want to pull the box out again.

there should be a small sticker around the adjustment screw that has a + / - Sign on it. I think you wind it in? cant remember

hey breaker the instructions say clock wise for higher rpm and the max is 9000rpm and a 3rd of a turn = 1100rpm but iv got both my blaster and supewrjet on max and have had no trouble so crank it up mate

The curves in the ignition stay the same regardless whether your boat is stock or not. You have to change the ignition to suit your mods, unless you are racing an MSD Enhancer is more than adequate for mild to serious mods. I have modified my ski a shit load and the MSD is awesome!
Racers that are really serious about horsepower usually run a total loss ignition or a Programmable Advent Computer. Not much fun if you want a reliable boat that goes everytime you hit the button. They seem to be quite troublesome!

Those curves show the factory ingnition curves versus the MSD Curve as you can see the MSD is alot more advanced at lower revs and then pegs back the timing to catch the factory curve later on to stop detonation. Its great, lets all get two!!!! lol

I brought the msd enhancer off trade me and installed it as per the msd sheet but have no spark.I think this unit is screwed put the stock unit back in and it fired up. and the dude won't reply to my e-mails what a waste of $200.

His user name is CB but he seams all good he is ging to give me a refund. He said he got a load of parts from the usa and the msd enhancer wasen't tested. I even tried conecting the pink wire and the red/white that msd said didn't need conecting no spark at all put the stock cdi back in and she fired up first pop.

$375 from Roger and you'll have no problems! lol

If you do connect the White/Red it pays to make sure the two white wires from the MSD are the right way around.. Or else it will just backfire and fart and maybe not even spark...
