Hey lads im looking to sell my boat and buy a new ski for next season, got a budget of around 3g give or take so be looking at older superjets or maybe an fx1.
My main question is which ski is better for freestyle/surf riding? I dont know what the differences between the 2 are apart from the fx1 having the weird pole pivot (stronger??)
    any advice would be sweet.

A square nose is so much better than an FX1, there is a reason they only made them for 2 years!

Seems sjs the go then, shame to cos i really think squarenose's are ugly lol. ahh well might just get creative with the fibreglass if i cant find a newer superjet for sale.
Or put a sj motor in the 650sx hull? 8)

if you've got only 3k to play with you're best to try to find a good Squarenose rather than a rough Roundnose.

try to find one that has an original 701 in it though, the 650 just doesnt go as well.

the budgets not too much of an issue really, its more that i ride streetbike freestyle aswell and put alot of time and money into that so dont wanna spend heaps on a ski that wont be main "sport" so to speak

So can anyone tell me exactly WHY people dont like fx1s? I see a few of you saying they arnt the go, whats the reason?

FX1s can be heaps of fun but the main problem is the pump is too small and they become hard to ride when it chops up.

well im not gonna be headin out in any storms so i dont think the chop will phase me too much, and I only weigh about 70kg after a big lunch so its not gonna be workin hard. Basically what I wanna know is there any reason I wont be able to hit decent waves, try flips/rolls and generally keep up with you guys on an fx1

They FX1 has the same 701 engine, so power is not the issue. The issue is getting that power to the water, which the FX1 does not do well.

The FX1 was designed as a racing ski, so the pump just does not have the bottom end that a freerider needs.

This link will have all the FX1 details you need.

If you want get a FX1 and find out for yourself otherwise listern to the people you have ask advice from and get a Superjet.

You can pick up a nice FX1 for around $2000 and then put some tubbies on and try and sort the pump.

Or pick up a Square nose superjet for $2500-$3000 and ride it do barrell rolls and backflips and put it in the shed.

Or spend alittle more $4500 and get a round nose with B pipe, prop etc and be happy!

Ps...Saying your not going out in the chop is shit...The surf is chop! and you still owe me $30 lol.

Its gonna come down to price at the end of the day. At this stage I simply dont care about fwx enough to spend 4g+ on a ski, I have over 20 grand worth of motorbikes in the shed and thats where the money will keep going.
If an Fx1 will do the job (even if i have to change the pump to sj at some point) then why spend more?
Dont get me wrong id kill for a round nose SJ but the bank account simply wont allow it..
And yeah bro I havnt forgotten ya $30, was gonna try catch up with you at raglan 8)

Not sure if your being sarcastic (internets good like that). But if your actually interested my current stunt bikes a 2005 Kawi Zx6rr, then got a cbr600 road regd stunter and another cbr for parts/burnouts.
