sorry guys missed this ride. did not feel well today. spent 5 hours in water yesterday......jumping after ferries. thanx to L8N for bringing this idea up on forum. got submarined few times , twised anckle and cant touch my left bottom cheek. anyone wants to join next weekend?
okahu bay. orakei. but went at harbour bridge to get some ferries. is it legal if you dont come to close?
i live very close to it. there is a yacht club. easy to launch any time. have to pay for parking but it worth it.
It's legal as long as you stay about fifty meters off the stern. I follow the Waiheke ferry to Kenedy point most weekends and have never had a problem. It's a bloody long run surfing the ferry wake.
on sat we followed the contanier ship spirit of resolution from onehunga for a while. that thing and the holcom concrete ships make mean wakes
You're supposed to go 5 knots within 50m of another vessel. But so long as you're at least a bit sensible and you're not causing a nusance you should be sweet to go faster closer. Also, there's a 12 knot restriction from the harbour bridge to north head. Again, so long as you're not being a complete tool, you should be sweet. They've publicised that the harbour masters are adopting an educative, rather than punitive approach to offenses. Just make sure your ski is registered, or at least, has registration numbers on it.[/i]
I was told it was 50 by the coastguard. I haven't had any worries yet. I think as long as your sensible you wont have any problems.
