Hey can anyone shed some light on impellers and housings.

Ive got a 750sx that I reckon needs a new impeller. Its ridiculously gutless when taking off ( like it revs its tits off but you go nowhere). Once its up to speed it goes alright, can still reach close on 70kmh.

Ive had a look at the impeller, and its an original alloy one. looking from the back it also seems to have quite a bit of clearance from the tip of the blade to the housing. ( say 2mm at least ).

Is this normal for there to be that much clearance in a pump? What is causing the clearance, is it the housing wearing away or is it the tips of the blades wearing away?

What would be a good impeller to put in, and wheres the best place to buy? Im after good bottom end acceleration..

    cheers, nate

Yep 2mm is way to much. You want the gap to be as small as possible. Hopefully some on here can sort you out a impeller. Pm Jet wrecks he may be able to get you one from the states.

The yamaha spec wear limit is 0.6mm between blade and housing.......not sure about kawasaki, but im sure they would spec something fairly similar.
