Yo, if anyone wants a set of Tubbies for their SJ or even SXR/SXi etc then I have the following to offer. These tubbies are the thinner profile version compared to the new Blowsion Destroyers. I haven't personally ridden a ski with the destroyers on but have heard they are very very good. However - at $400+ are they that good? If you want a cheaper option then take a look at these.

They can be made in either black or white gel coat and come with mounting screws. All you need is a tube of industrial silicone adhesive and you're away. Fitment can be arranged if you don't want to do it yourself.

    $200 per set.

How hard are these to fit?
Wheres the best placement and are they mounted with screws threw the hull?

They're not too hard. Just require a little bit of patience and the right tools. They come with a brief sheet showing where the recommended placement is. Some people have temporarily siliconed them in place (with screws) and then moved them a couple of times to find their preferred location. Yes - they are mounted using stainless screws through the hull.

Not at the moment. It takes a week to make them anyway so you'd just need to let me know a week out from when you want them.

Has anyone tried these or the blowsion tubbies on an 08+ hull?

These sponsons look very familiar, and IF they are the sponsons I'm thinking about, you won't want them on a 08+ hull, they were originally made for the Hydrospace.

Rickster, I don't think they are the sponsons you're thinking about. These sponsons are similar to the MKIII tubbies by Blowsion which they sell as a "Universal fit" - which includes the '08. They were originally designed for the SXR and HSR as the 1st and 2nd gen tubbies were too thick. They call them "slim-fast" or something like that.

I run these on all my SXR's and also pre-08 SJ. The most important thing is placement when fitting. Not getting that right could mean a rather average or poor handling ski. I have the locations to mount for the SXR and pre-08 SJ. I don't have the '08+ location but here is a pic of the MKIII version on Ross Champions '08 SJ hull:

You guys all make me laugh everybody has different experiences with different set ups
We have run tubbies on pre 08s and 08+ in my opinon its totally up to the rider
Tayne runs tubbies on his 08 race boat and makes it real stabble in chop and at high speeds
have run his ski in surf with a 760 and the front stays up real well Maybe wouldnt put them on if you havent sorted out better steering for 08+ as they do make it harder to turn
good price for tubbies right there dick webb

any photos of the other side? (inside) please. do they have a back on them or are they hollow if you now what i mean??

Sorry dude , I don't have any at this stage to photograph. They are essentially hollow (i.e. they're not a solid piece of fibreglass. They'd be too heavy if they were). The "hollow shell" is filled with polyurethane foam. This supports the shell and gives a surface to bond. The fibreglass is approx 5-6mm thick.

Somebody a bit titchy, because nobody said tubbies on an 08+ hull sucked, but you have to make sure you have the right tubbies to match the hull...

Hell, Ross Champion rocked sponsons on 08+ hulls, so it has to imporve the ski for him...
