Have done a search, and not found a great deal yet. The last few times I took it out i noticed a bit of hesitation in accellerating. this weekend, i went out and it was perhaps a little bit worse. Later, I tried giving my MRS a lesson on it (was worth the laugh) and it wouldn't start when she came back from an incredibly slow pootle on her knees. I replaced the plugs with some brand spankers, and it still wouldn't start. Battery is charging now, as i ran the old thing flat trying to get it going... Sorry for being a useless c*nt, but Any ideas where to begin? want to get back out this weekend if poss.
exactly what is wrong, does it still spark? someone on here will be able to help you if u tell them the symptoms.
didn't physically check the spark, but plugs were brand new. will have a proper look tonight and get more info and let you guys know. cheers
Check the stop switch connection. I had all sorts of problems due 2 a bad connection. So did the little miget and we had 2 tow his shit box in.
sweet, so: yes, it was turning over, but just not firing. replaced the spark plugs, still not firing. pumped the primer, made sure it had fuel.. still wouldnt go. once or twice i got it to start, and would rev if i blipped the throttle, but then it would stall and die after. eventually the battery died. from turning it over trying to start it. Charged the batt overnight. checked to see if plugs were sparking - they were. checked to see if i had compression - was 155psi both cylinders. put it all back together and got it going almost straight away.. turned it off, feeling satisfied. tried again and the f*cker wouldnt go... Reckon i have some crap in the carb maybe? what are your thoughts? cheers 8)
sounds like a cdi or a weak exciter coil when the exciter coil plays up the ski will run for about 8 minutes then start to play up then slowly they get worse and worse until you get to where they will spark but not enough to start the ski check the resitance on it
mine had the exact same symptoms replaced CDI, no change, was looking next at going through the coils... By chance I ripped into the carby... found a hair ball in the carby which was clogging and causing all sorts of headaches.. put her all back together and sweet as.
Check spark Check conection of plug caps to plug leads Check plug caps Clean carbs Check all gaskets and fuel pump parts in carb Clean out gas tank and fuel lines Change fuel filter Check water trap isnt full of water[ leave the bottom of the trap open enuff that water drips out all the time] If you are not conferdent to do this work find someone that is to help as the carb must go back together the same as it came apart!!!! If this dosnt help then we will start on the electrics If you ride alot and your doing alot of subs or just falling off alot and taking on water into the engine bay all this stuff needs to be check on a regular basess.
