    Hey Kiwi folk.

A question about some ride spots on the North Island. Has any ridden or regularly rides any of these spots. And the key question, would you live in these towns if you had the choice? and..... which has the best weather!

    Ahipara

    Piha

    Raglan

    mangawhai heads

    Cheers

Mangawhai is the place Stu , east coast surf is not as large as west coast but is cleaner as a rule. We spend a bit of time up that way and could easily live up there.

We have a weekend arranged for Raglan on the 16th august , you are welcome to come over and you can have a look around. There's a spare blaster and a ride down on offer. Book now for cheap flights.

If you are 65 years old, retiring and plan on riding or surfing everyday then any of these places are fine but if not you will be bored out of your tree in a week, Tauranga would be my choice at least there is a town there and descent East coast surf as well as an endless supply of Codys

If you had been a year earlier with your plans Flan would've rented his section at Port Waikato to you. Black sand beach, Magical west coast surf, and the section already had a dwelling on it.

I agree with norm if you are his age and plan on retiring etc… Tauranga good weather regular ride crew and surf.

Cool, we're coming back on the 23 rd aug to take a look at all those spots.

Want to still be close to Auckland. But with surf. Raglan seems pretty cool so far. Will check tauranga out. If I get freelance work. 2hrs to auk is ok. Plus I wanna be near the boys;) Otherwise it's ponsonby!

Make sure you check on all the little things that are important to you in day to day life. Things like internet speed etc can be an issue. Its far cry here from the services and speed you get in auzzie especially in those more rural areas. Even Norm has problems with his speed (but that may be due to the Dotcom / mega.co.nz mansion up the road).

too many rocks at ahipara, and too difficult to launch and not get your stuff stolen - and issues with the tide and if you are living there, like norm said there is nothing going on there! Mangawhai is great, surf is not as great as west coast, but close to auckland. You could try whangarei - we have a great selection of beaches and choice between both coasts, depends what you want to do

We actually want to get away from it all for a while. the bloody internet! it's evil in a way. but with out it, i wouldn't know you guys. So what can one say. Just need a break. Grow some beans and carrots. Surf and jetski a point break for once. chase sheep, you know... ;) well these days cows. who took all the sheep!

is the weather any better in magawhai, than auckland / raglan? would definatly like to avoid a wet area.

If we get a decent house, we can have jetski weekends at our place!!!

if you dont think you would mind living in a small beach town ...then up the coast from Tauranga, there is also the Coromandal peninsula towns that might be worth checking out;....Waihi beach, Whangamata , Tairua etc

IS this pic legit, thats a sweet peeling break.. looks nice.. NZ seems to be perfect for goofy footers.. Can you actually ski that or no chance with surfers?

Yep that's Whanga Bar...However you are NOT allowed to ski rite there but just round the corner to the left is a great little beach we call the secret spot...
If Whangamata is looking like this then Matakana Island is looking just as good.
When your over and if your wanting to head down this way give me a ring 0274746397

Surf is better at Tauranga but if your wanting a smaller town to live then Whanaga is the go

I would go for Mangawhai, could be a little biased though. Cheap rent or cheap to buy. Still has all the amenities. 1 hour from Auckland, mint weather, good surf. Full of hippies!!!
