Right We need to do some thing to get everyone riding together, to see who is number 1 (White box/Lo cost Lucas), Have some fun, Drink, talk shit, Perv at Girls, Maybe even ride Skis.

I have started talking to a namless Energy drink company who shows potencial in being a sponsor. We need some Ideas on this list of stuff

1: What sort of event do we want to hold?
Freeride open to all with some spot prizes or
A Competition with diffrent classes? (what classes?? flatwater, surf, runabout, ski, show and shine)
2: A location with good public access for promoting the sport.
3: Some people to help organise the event
4: We probably need some sort of club or national membership to run an event????
    5: Fundrasing to cover costs???

Lots of other stuff. If anyone knows what else we need post it.

I have an Idea for location, that has 20 thousand 18-30 age group people camping 50mts from the beach at New year for the Rythm and Vines concert. This year it ran for a week and they had heaps of other events combined Wakboarding comp, Tow at Surf comp, Skate comp, Bikini comp (Lucas could enter the spedo section), And heaps of other stuff going on, after partys every night. I know the guy who runs it and can see if we could be a part of this years event. Then all the advertising and promotion will be done for us!
Only down side is it is held in Gissy!

Remember this event is for all of us so speak up and put you ideas forward.

    Cheers

    Tim

Only need 2 classes, ski and runabout.
Will we need to fundraise or will the energy drink company fund us enough?
Not much else to pay for is there other than trophies and prize money?

If you have a freeride with random spot prizes far more people will enter. Biggest jump, best nose stab, barrell roll, backflip, cherry popper, best crash, best broken ski, furthest distance travelled etc. Lucas already knows im better then him so unless someone comes from the woodwork a 1st 2nd and 3rd comp will be boring....

It needs to be held somewhere like tauranga that is central and the event needs to be well publicised so people actually show up or it will be a big waste of time.

Its a shame really cause we virtually have one of these events every weekend and only the same guys turn up week after week. What makes you confident that more people other then us will turn up to ride tim??
People like to say they will be there but never show up. Dont get me wrong I think this will be a great event if people actually go!!!

I agree with Capt, you would def. need spot prizes as the top 4 would be very predictable (lucas, capt, aquaholic, whale, In no particular order :) )

As for location centeral north island would be good, the mount would be premo (as long as the surf plays it part)

Im sure you wouldnt have any trouble finding people to help out, what needs to be done?

You may be able to get the NZJSBA to sanction the event...?

As for fundraising you could have a small entrance fee to ride, try get some jetski shops to sponsor the event for free advertising etc. etc.

If you give people time so they can plan to attend the event, hopefully they will come....

Sounds like an awesome idea :)
  5. I agree, if you plan it a long time in advance for a definate date you'll get a much better turn out than the usual weekly ride, if it were to become an annual thing that everyone planned to go to every year it'd likely get bigger and bigger.

    Sign me up!

If your going to hold it down here let me know and i can talk to the councils etc.
I can see if a pub will come on board for prize giving and after match breefing.
If we need a club i could see if the hawkes bay club would be keen to help maybe??
We want to try and keep entry down as low as we can!
I can talk to local shops etc for some prizes and give away stuff.

    Lets make this happen guys!

What time of the year are we talking here? Wouldn't it be best to have it nearer the end of the good weather rather than around New Year? Maybe late March?? The water temp is still 21 - 22 then..

    Sweet Ideas and coments.

so it looks like we would want an event some thing like this.

Held in Tauranga/ the Mount. About March/April

A freeride based on everyone having some fun and a ride not a full bolwn comp with a good piss up/ prise giving afterwards.

Prizes for Best: Stab, Backy, Roll, Wave ride, Re-entry, Bigest jump, Best trick, Crash, Broken Ski, Cherry popper, and spot prizes.

I Think if we Involve NZjsba We will end up with way too many rules and regs. But we could look at that in the future.

If we organise it well in advance we will have more people able to make it. And if we have some prizes and a prize giving and make the whole thing a bit more fomal we may get a good turn out. So we will have to look at Next Year??? or may be Late this year (labor weekend)????

We would have to think of a good format for riders and have some one watching to pick all the bests for the prizes. if everyone is on the water at the same time this could be quite hard. Maybe have a all in Freeride session, then Maybe 4 rider heats for a set time period (5min??) so we can all get the feel of a comp for future years. Then another all in freeride session. Ending the day with a cherry buster event so skis make it most of the day before they get writen off??? only Ideas here what do you guys think???

Your right the mount is the best place
between the life guards and the rock ( not sure of the name for the rock)

In australia they used t have a 180 cup for the highest 180
    was awesome to watch
    Massive nose stabs going on

But a bbq during the day and a party afterwards would make an awesome event

Tim, sounds like you got a really good plan for this free ride. With the inclusion of a BBQ during the day and party afterwards.

Would we have to get council approval to hold the event? would we need to get bouys and cordon off an area for the event (so swimmers and surfers dont get them selves into danger)?

Would it be a weekend event, arrive friday night (drinking) free ride sat (drinking) then do whatever on sunday....

Yep A BBQ would be the go on the day! I don't thing the Taunranga Council would let us run the event at Main beach. The last few years of the north island summer tour held at the mount had to be held at Papamoa reserve way down the beach. Yes the whole area would have to closed to the public for swimming as a safety thing.

Tofa: Guess you will be the man to talk to the Tauranga Council since you live there.

Ok i will get onto it!
Are we going to try for one this year?
If so what time of year as i will need to let the council know.
I will try for the main beach but will only be allowed one day if any.

    .

I think he said top 4 norm, And yer havnt been out for a while!
May have to turn up for some lessions!

Anyway all good posts coming in and some great ideas!

Are we wanting it as a spectator event or an event for the riders?

I think if we are going for main beach tauranga we would want lots of people watching and oohing and arring over norm lol. Otherwise we could hold it at matakana island and it could be an R18 event lol

I have just spoken to the council and there are very interested in letting us hold the event at the main beach.
I now have to meet with the harbour master to arrange saftey plan etc!

We will not be allowed cars on the beach but are able to have large tents etc for pits and maybe even gear for sale.

I will keep you posted on how the meeting goes with harbour master.

The council also are interested in hold other type events in the future.

WOW, I am surprised they will let us on to main beach, they haven't let jetski racing there for years, sent them down to papamoa.
You DO NOT want to get the NZJSBA involved, they are a pack of fuckwits and will take as much money as they can.

By the sounds of it the NZJSBA is out... hopefully the Hawkes bay club will be a go
