Dick Web, Can I ride two skis in this event?

Sorry dude missed your post. Yes that's not problem at all. More skis the better. No additional fee either, but may be a case of choosing one per each round of sessions but will sort that out later.

Will there be scrutineering at the NZFF? Will I need a chin pad on my pole and does it matter if the hulls a bit cracked in placers?

Yes - there will be a scrutineering process - it will be nothing stressful so don't worry. A chin pad is advisable but not a requirement. If you do choose to run without one it would be recommended that you make some attempt to pad the handlebars. You will also have to demonstrate that you have a working lanyard at scrutineering.

Everyone will need an appropriate helmet and PFD to ride. If you don't have helmet I would organise to borrow someones there. Not everyone rides at once so its easy to share.

As for cracks etc - unless your hull looks like its structurally damaged and won't last the event then you will be OK. And if its that bad then its probably taking on a lot of water.

Essentially the process is there to ensure that your equipment will not fail and cause you, or others, harm. There is no need for alarm and if you do have any questions then please don't hesitate to ask.

We will send out more information soon to all that have entered so far and ensure that we detail the more important requirements of the event.

Do we need a lanyard? I think its safer with out one... or is that a blanket NZ club jetski event rule?

    Lanyard? What's that?

    Thoroughly agree with that.

I have looked into it further and I'm glad to say that you will not require a working lanyard switch. So a cable tie is OK. Essentially - this is seen as a freestyle event and the rules that govern freestyle craft do not require one.

I will go through and address all items on the scrutineering list and will let all entrants know what is required when we email/mail out entry information.

There will be nothing to worry about.

Question for the South Island guys, Do watercraft running at port waikato need to be registered or is this outside the area? I dont have a clue what your rules are up there

Technically yes. However, not many (maybe one or two) of the skis up here are registered and haven't had any issue out at the port. For the event itself you will not require your ski to be registered.

Environment Waikato covers the Port Waikato area and if you want to registration can be made by downloading the form off their website and mailing it in.

Port Waikato itself is pretty isolated, so never seen anyone there checking rego, however further up the river at Tuakau (popular waterski spot) we often flush out skis out there on the way home, and occasionally on busy days a council guy is there looking at rego’s etc, but he seems an alright guy and so far has only reminded us our skis should be registered…
