I'm working on developing a new design free ride hull.
What do people want in a free ride hull. I will be competitive on price to other imported hulls and no international shipping costs.
    Any ideas welcome,

    Cheers
    Chris

Krash footrocket... Short, lots of rocker, adjustable footholds, not to wide and possibly slightly wider at the tray than the front?

(my opinion doesnt count as i cant ride for shit anyway... )

I have finished the superjet hull mould and will be popping a hull out over the next few weeks. I haven't done the deck because I'm thinking ill be doing a different style deck.

Yep short, rocker and a wide tray are on the list. Adjustable footholds are a nice option to.

Open to all opinions no matter what rider level, just want hear what people are after.

    Cheers

In general, short, light, rocker and adjustable footholds (wish mine had these).

Few comments from having just put together an AM hull:
    - space so it can take a SJ tank or something similar for people who want more than a little kart tank.
-pick a popular waterbox and space your mounts around it so it straps down nice using stock SJ rubber straps, can still clear the tank and fit a Bpipe or PFP. Make sure the buyer knows you designed around this box and recommend it.
    - chase all threads to get resin out (having to clean them out is a real pain for the end user who may not have the right tools to do it... also if you don't own a NES internal thread repair tool already, get one you'll thank me later)
-two 3/8ths water lines, trim cable and steering cable ready to go with the right end fittings already on.
-pre installed scupper as an option
-use kawi sxr style hood seals, they seal better
-if you are using stock hood latches, pre drill or install these, its a pain in the ass for someone to get the squish right
-make sure your pole bracket fits RRP/knoxie/AC poles without any messing around
-have tow points front and rear

One things I haven't seen on AM hulls that would be really nice to have... glass in a few extra inserts to bolt things down to. Two on the left side in front of the bulkhead would be great to mount a nice clean bilge bracket too..no more siliconing it down. Maybe some on the bulkhead to mount the electronics too (drilling into a fresh hull SUCKS, actually one of my biggest complaints)

Spend time looking over the German Lightweight hulls. Great build quality and features like a flat tray that you can alter to have any configuration you want and the tunable rear ride plate section like footrockets now have.
Dont think they have the same amount of rocker as my FP1 or a JB1 tho. making a small bond rail the whole way round must make them easier to assemble aswell. Everything else is pretty much covered. Very small market here mate and only a few want to spend any money. Dont make it ugly like those things those dawson creek muppets made what were they called? They never wanted to show any vids of them

Thats right Blow ski they had some good ideas (think they copied some from a JB1?) but just looked to ugly and just came across as muppets

Why bother? You can get a Krash industries Superjet with wide tray and adjustable foot holes for $3500au

Few more things: pre install a pump shoe if you are using yami pumps. I'd say to make a kawi drivetrain version but I'm not sure if there are enough riders to make it worth it.

Oh other piece of advice... look at a Superfreak build.. then don't do anything they did construction wise. No clue why those things are so popular, for $9k US you get an empty hull with really crappy fit and finish, with voids in the glass/carbon at every corner and have to glass in all your own mounts. They might ride well but the fittment on my hull is 10 times as good for half the price. I wouldn't dare say this on Xh20 btw, I'm sure I'd get a pineapple shoved up my ass.

Also, if you aren't already, go to resin infusion layup or at least wet vacuum bagging, the results are so much better.

It would be nice to see you in the surf some time chris? maybe you could ride a few of the other AM hulls here in aucks and get a feel for what you want in a hull its your time that your investing in the build get it how you want it. Im a big fan of bartons krash jb1 hulls over rickters just because they are slightly wider and handle and hold a rail on a wave face both hulls flip super easy because of their short lenght. But i choose to ride a superjet with tubbies and put more effort in.

    Hi Chris,

You are welcome to ride my Rickter - just give me a yell.
I had Taynes ski (JB1) and mine (FR2) on the same trailer the other day and had a bit of a measure up. They are the same width and the Rickter is about 100mm longer but the engine is set back a fair bit more than the JB1. Obviously this is because the engine can be moved on the Rickter, but mine is spaced forward a bit to stop the B-Pipe hitting the back of the hood lip, and is still noticably further back than the JB1. The other main difference we noticed is the room in the tray - the JB1 has a HUGE tray, with heaps more ability to move the footholds around. Also becuase of the design of the footholds they use more of the available width in the tray than the Rickter does. All of this presumably makes it more tunable to the rider. Tayne rides with his footholds way further forward than I can get mine.

    Cheers,
