well after many years of campaigning kawasaki I've finally bought a superjet, the question now is, whats mods first???
bearing in mind reliability is tops on my list and I don't have and open cheque book. I had in mind:
first and formost remove the warning stickers!
foot holds and new mat kit
new intake grate and stainless prop (but what pitch?)
    after market ride plate

95% of the riding we do is in the surf, any other suggestions??
here it is... 100% stock standard

  2. Make sure you've got a bilge pump first!

Dalusion foot holds + wamiltons turf kit
    Limiting rope
    hood straps
Impros Hooker 9/15 Yamaha 144 SB Impeller
Some sort of steering system + 0*bars
    wr201 intake
    Bilge pump
    D-cut stock ride plate

    That should get you started!

cheers for the advice guys, will get through the first list before I begin on the engine! I'm sure the stock set up will be enough power for this summer compared to my 650!!
3 out of 4 stickers I can't even read haha

footholds , bilge , hood straps and limiting rope..... to get started.....
do you really feel happier switching from kawi to yami?
what are good and bad sides?

i switched from a 750sx to an 08 super jet, first ride was weird as everything was more sensitive, and unlike the 750 the nose doesn't porpose like hell...the 750 is easier to ride but difficulty goes with riding a standup instead of a couch too. i wouldn't look back now.

Reinforcing would be the first thing on my list.

Yeah I was wondering about reinforcing, I've nearly snapped my old kawa in half literally!
Have recieved some good advice so will chip away at the mods, and I'm not 100% sure about how I feel about the move as only got the ski a few days ago so haven't even ridden it! But I'm sure most members on here will agree I've done the right thing.
Looking forward to first ride asap!

Its a pretty mint looking ski you should reinforce it add footholds and bilge pump and heavy duty pole spring first then at least it will be strong and comfortable to ride and you can go thrash it. If you do the work yourself it will cost around $600

Interesting, I had a go on Korned's SJ and not long after Scotty Rocker's SJ and fuck I couldn't believe how different tehy are. I reckon the biggest difference was how much lighter they felt, alot more unstable. About the same acceleration I reckon but definately easier to throw the SJ around, that said, my 750 is alot smoother sounding I think. In aviation terms, I'd say our Pitts Special in stock form is like a 750, and when we have finished modifying it it will be like an SJ. :)

Any hoo, I don't need an SJ because I still have stuff to learn about riding this thing.

Btw mint pair of SJ's. :)

...careful removing the stickers off the hood. hood is usually a different 'paint' from the hull - it's more like one big elastic sticker and can stretch and distort when you take the sticker off... at least thats what happened on my blue '02 - had to repaint the whole hood

Yeah when you pull the stickers off the hood it will take the paint with it, you are better off covering the stickers with a sticker that is the same colour as the ski then putting your decals on top of that

just got my ski 4 weeks ago a black 05 as well and the 1st thing i did was peel the warning stickers off and trust me the paint comes off with them :( so i would be taken much care!! Casey

did you use a blow dryer to heat them up first? it seemed to work on mine

I used a heat gun, worked fine even got them off in one piece.
Ski is going well, have put bilge pump in, pole spring, pole saver
and scoop grate. Got footholds and turf waiting to go in when I get some time.
    But yeah loving it!
