Dont get an auto one cos by the time it senses water your ski will be half full. Then it will shut off before it is empty cos the water moves around so much when you are riding.
Get a 500 or 100 GPH Rule Pump, Most of the guys on here wil have the same ones I would say. The Rule pumps are just the right size to fit down the back by the drive shaft.
Most jet ski or marine shops sell them.
Or Roger, I think he may have some?
  3. Do a scupper too they work better

  5. scupper = one-way valve that dumps water out the back of the ski but does not let it back in.

I have never had a bilge pump in my ski and never had a problem. I've also just recently re-routed my exhaust out the side and am now running 2 scupper valves out the back. Still no bilge pumps.

    scuppers

ta,very clever idea .also power is so exp. these days :)
  7. Are these scupper valves very hard to hook up and how much? whats the advantage of having your exaust out the side? that would just bring back memorys of my old 650sx haha

theres no room for 2 scuppers ,so thats why the exhaust had to go out the side of the ski, no issues with one scupper...

A scupper set up will cost you a bit more if you do it yourself, it has the advantage of dumping water quicker but you have to be moving forward for it to work so is of little value if you are flapping around in the water with a ski that won't start (I have much experience with this)... It also requires a bit of water to be in the hull for it to work.

A bilge pump is a bit cheaper and easier to install, but stick with Rule as they don't seem to mind being left running dry. If you buy a cheap brand and it is left on with no water chances are it will burn itself out quickly and I have even heard of them catching on fire. You will need a sealed switch, don't get those handle bar ones they seem to last only a year of hard riding - go with the $80 unit from Roger or I think some people have had good luck with the $16 sealed unit from dick smiths.

Ta heaps Rumble, saves time n $ buying wrong stuff...
    P.s. Guys, don,t 4 get to use marine wire,red twin,it's tin plated , think i got it from repco/appco...
  11. id agree with rumble on the rule bilge pumps iv had a good run out of them. had a 550gph which lasted a good few years of salt and freash water and a fare bit of running dry. running a 1100 one now which goes pritty hard.
