Hey guys just joined the forum, brought my first ski the other day after wanting one for awhile.
Its a mid 90s 650sx, needs a bit of love but the price was right.
First question is how good are these skis for basic freestyle/general mucking round?? I wont be doing anything amazing, kinda just wanna test the water so to speak and see if skiings something i wanna get into, but i know fuck all about them so any help would be great.

Welcome dude...The 650 will be a good first ski for you to learn on...Then once you have mastered it and are keen on a new ski a yamaha superjet will be a good upgrade.
Just remember to ride safe and learn the boating rules! dont give jetskiers a bad name..(we have Aquanob for that lol)

Yer welcome. Make sure your ski is reliable before taking it in the surf. Its a horrible feeling when your ski wont start and a huge wave is bearing down on ya. Enjoy and see you on the water some time.

my advise is never ride alone, always wear some kind of life jacket, if you must ride alone, get someone to watch, or ride near the flags.

also, +1 for superjets, had many kawasakis, and wouldnt go back there again now that ive had yamahas

I agree on the advancing on to a superjet because I would never go back now either, however I did thrash around on a 650sx for years and had an absolute blast, was only limited to how fast I dare hit a wave.
    go out and have fun!
